What This Score Actually Measures

The Wealth Delay Score is a simplified, self-reported heuristic — it is not a credit score, FICO score, or any kind of official financial rating, and it is not affiliated with any credit bureau, lender, or government agency. Nobody can see it but you unless you choose to share it.

It's loosely inspired by the structure of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's Financial Well-Being Scale — a research-backed framework for measuring how in-control people feel about their finances — combined with common, widely-cited personal finance benchmarks: a savings rate around 15-20% of income, an emergency fund of 3-6 months' expenses, and capturing 100% of any employer 401(k) match.

The six questions map to those benchmarks. The score is meant to start a conversation with yourself — not to be a verdict, and definitely not something to optimize by gaming the sliders.

Common Questions

Is the Wealth Delay Score an official credit score?
+
No. The Wealth Delay Score is not a credit score, is not produced or endorsed by any credit bureau or rating agency, and is not used by lenders. It is WealthDelay's own simplified self-assessment of money habits, intended for personal reflection only.
What is the Wealth Delay Score based on?
+
It's a simplified heuristic inspired by — but not equivalent to — the CFPB's Financial Well-Being Scale, combined with common personal-finance benchmarks (savings rate, emergency fund months, debt-to-income ratio, and employer 401(k) match capture). It is a self-reported estimate, not a verified financial assessment.
Is my data stored when I take the quiz?
+
No. All six inputs and the resulting score are calculated entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is sent to or stored on any server. If you choose to share your score, only the score and band name are included in the link you generate.
Can I retake the quiz?
+
Yes, as many times as you like — your inputs reset each time you reload the page (unless you opened a shared link, in which case the shared inputs are pre-filled so you can adjust and recalculate).
